趣旨：神奈川県の水源林の意義と課題をユネスコ「人間と生物圏（MAB）計画」及びSDGsの観点から検討する文理融合の学内チーム

Aims: An interdisciplinary study group that examines the significance and challenges of Kanagawa Prefecture's watershed forests from the perspective of the UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme and SDGs.

内容（案）：横浜国大UNESCO Chairを中心にユネスコエコパーク, ユネスコMAB（人間と生物圏計画）活動を中心とする環境保全活動、奥山の水源とそれを使う都市住民の関係、防災減災（DRR）活動、気候変動緩和策と適応策の活動（CO2削減、炭素固定、ゴミ処理、リサイクル、クリーンエネルギー、都市工学など、実際に神奈川県などがSDGsとして取り組む諸活動）を一体のものとして地方行政等に科学的知見および人材育成の面から協力することを目指す。

注）PESとは、「生態系サービスに対する支払い（payment for ecosystem services）」の略語で、日本の「生物多様性国家戦略2012-2020」73頁には、「生態系サービスの受益者となる事業者や消費者等がそのサービスを受ける対価として生態系保全の費用を負担する生態系サービスへの支払い制度」と記されている。人間の生存と生活を支える生態系サービス（自然の恵み）が不可欠だが、特に市場で貨幣価値評価されない価値を軽視したまま開発や取引によって失われることがないように、生態系サービスの価値を市場経済に内部化する試みの一つである。【参考：環境用語集】

Contents (draft): Environmental conservation activities centred on the UNESCO Chair at Yokohama National University, including UNESCO EcoPark and UNESCO MAB (Man and Biosphere Programme) activities, the relationship between water sources in the backcountry and the urban residents who use them, disaster prevention and mitigation (DRR) activities, climate change mitigation and adaptation activities (CO2 reduction, carbon fixation, waste disposal, waste management, climate change mitigation measures and adaptation measures). The aim is to cooperate with local administrations, etc. in terms of scientific knowledge and human resource development by integrating the SDGs (e.g. recycling, clean energy, urban engineering and other activities that Kanagawa Prefecture and others are actually undertaking as part of the SDGs).

Note: PES is an abbreviation for 'payment for ecosystem services', which is described in Japan's National Biodiversity Strategy 2012-2020, p. 73 as 'a payment system for ecosystem services under which businesses and consumers who are the beneficiaries of ecosystem services bear the costs of ecosystem conservation as compensation for receiving those services'. It is one of the attempts to internalise the value of ecosystem services into the market economy, so that the value of ecosystem services (nature's gifts), which are essential for human survival and livelihoods, are not lost through development and trade, especially when the value that is not valued in monetary terms in the market is neglected.

趣旨：神奈川県の水源林の意義と課題をユネスコ「人間と生物圏（MAB）計画」及びSDGsの観点から検討する文理融合の学内チーム	Aims: An interdisciplinary study group that examines the significance and challenges of Kanagawa Prefecture's watershed forests from the perspective of the UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme and SDGs.
内容（案）：横浜国大UNESCO Chairを中心にユネスコエコパーク, ユネスコMAB（人間と生物圏計画）活動を中心とする環境保全活動、奥山の水源とそれを使う都市住民の関係、防災減災（DRR）活動、気候変動緩和策と適応策の活動（CO2削減、炭素固定、ゴミ処理、リサイクル、クリーンエネルギー、都市工学など、実際に神奈川県などがSDGsとして取り組む諸活動）を一体のものとして地方行政等に科学的知見および人材育成の面から協力することを目指す。注）PESとは、「生態系サービスに対する支払い（payment for ecosystem services）」の略語で、日本の「生物多様性国家戦略2012-2020」73頁には、「生態系サービスの受益者となる事業者や消費者等がそのサービスを受ける対価として生態系保全の費用を負担する生態系サービスへの支払い制度」と記されている。人間の生存と生活を支える生態系サービス（自然の恵み）が不可欠だが、特に市場で貨幣価値評価されない価値を軽視したまま開発や取引によって失われることがないように、生態系サービスの価値を市場経済に内部化する試みの一つである。【参考：環境用語集】	Contents (draft): Environmental conservation activities centred on the UNESCO Chair at Yokohama National University, including UNESCO EcoPark and UNESCO MAB (Man and Biosphere Programme) activities, the relationship between water sources in the backcountry and the urban residents who use them, disaster prevention and mitigation (DRR) activities, climate change mitigation and adaptation activities (CO2 reduction, carbon fixation, waste disposal, waste management, climate change mitigation measures and adaptation measures). The aim is to cooperate with local administrations, etc. in terms of scientific knowledge and human resource development by integrating the SDGs (e.g. recycling, clean energy, urban engineering and other activities that Kanagawa Prefecture and others are actually undertaking as part of the SDGs). Note: PES is an abbreviation for 'payment for ecosystem services', which is described in Japan's National Biodiversity Strategy 2012-2020, p. 73 as 'a payment system for ecosystem services under which businesses and consumers who are the beneficiaries of ecosystem services bear the costs of ecosystem conservation as compensation for receiving those services'. It is one of the attempts to internalise the value of ecosystem services into the market economy, so that the value of ecosystem services (nature's gifts), which are essential for human survival and livelihoods, are not lost through development and trade, especially when the value that is not valued in monetary terms in the market is neglected.
