Prof. Kaoruko Kurata (Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences)
On Friday, October 17, 2025, Professor Kaoruko Kurata delivered a lecture titled “Biocultural Diversity Pilot Site: Tokiwa Forest” as an example of Yokohama National University’s initiatives at the Sustainable Campus Subcommittee of the UN University SDG University Platform (SDG-UP).
She introduced an overview and history of Tokiwa Forest, which was designated as a Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Site in October 2024, as well as its characteristic evergreen broadleaf trees and various initiatives such as promoting understanding of biodiversity and implementing environmental education with a focus on biocultural diversity.
